It is also used in leather,  fertilizer, papermaking,  printing and dyeing industries. It can be made by sulfuric acid acting on magnesium oxide, magnesium hydroxide.

In medicine, magnesium sulphate anhydrous is used to treat nail varus and as a laxative.
