The previous production of magnesium sulfate was only sulfuric acid method. Before the 1970s, China's high-temperature salt slurry and bittern were always discharged into the sea and lakes as waste. This practice, first, caused a serious waste of resources, and second, caused extreme environmental pollution, resulting in the enrichment of impurities in sea and lake salt products. In view of these situations, China's salinization community has been working hard. It was not until the 1990s that the high-temperature salt and magnesium sulfate in bittern were successfully extracted. At the same time, the sulfuric acid process in Tianjin was gradually mature. At present, the production process of magnesium sulfate mainly adopts sulfuric acid method and sea lake bittern method. In addition, there are some by-products, such as the product in the process of preparing boric acid from brucite and the production of titanium dioxide to produce magnesium sulfate. At present, there are more than 30 magnesium sulfate production plants in China, of which sulfuric acid method accounts for 75%, salt lake brine utilization accounts for 18%, and salinization by-products account for 7%. In recent years, the annual export of magnesium sulfate accounts for 50% ~ 60% of the total output. With the deepening of agricultural understanding of medium nutrient elements such as magnesium and sulfur in improving crop yield and quality, domestic magnesium sulfate as agricultural fertilizer has made some progress in production and application in recent years. It is estimated that in the next few years, domestic magnesium sulfate products will continue to meet the demand in traditional fields such as food, medicine, chemical industry, light industry, textile and daily chemical industry and earn foreign exchange through export. In addition, there is still a huge potential market in agricultural fertilizer, and its demand will increase year by year. As a manufacturer, the products produced should be acceptable to agricultural production in terms of fertilizer efficiency and price.
